Vision Statement

Draft

I will wake up each morning, thankful for a new day of life and the Serenity prayer. The beginning of wisdom is to fear God. With the Lord's help, I will develop a vision for who He wants me to become. I can then create a path to start living the vision using goals and objectives, which will compose my life's mission.

I will strive to be humble, not passive. Therefore to be humble, I must not enter in controversial discussion when experiencing a feeling of anger or fear. In order to not be passive, if I have a grievance I will address it as soon as possible. I will remain open to the opinions of others, not my own idées fixes. I will live my life according to this statement, dynamic as it is, and success will be judged upon comparing my life to this statement rather than my personal achievements or certifications. Conversely, I will place a high priority on obtaining certifications for subjects that support my mission. (I think I will need to be pretty aggressive with self-assigning things to myself, to keep my brain on track and not trying to learn off-subject things. However, for me to maintain interest in a hard and long subject, I need to know very clearly how the subject will support my mission and vision. Then my brain will desire above all distractions to get this one thing done and do it.)

When I fail, I will make restitution. When I fail again, I will actively pursue any steps necessary to learn, strengthen character, in accordance to the type of failure.

I am always ready to come home to my wife and children, therefore, I will always enter the house with a smile and cheerful countenance to matter the day. Time for discussing any existing heavy matters must be done before bed. Always above work and education will come my duties as a father and husband, to value these relationships above all other relationships.

Before retiring for the night, at minimum I will reflect on the events of my day, the actions I took, and remember the Lord's Prayer. If unusual events or emotions were experienced I should journal them, with a minimum of journaling once a week to keep myself focused on living out my desire.

Vision statement is needed, so one can be in the balance cycle not the stress cycle.

Some questions:

  1. What have you done since you were a child that still gives you a lot of satisfaction?
    1. Specifically, I could say working on things, mechanic stuff.
    2. I think it is broader than that, and would be foolish to limit to mechanics. I like learning how intricate things work and how to fix them.
  2. In which activities do you feel fully energized?
  3. What are you good at?
    1. and maybe what am i bad at? and is that ok or do I need to improve?
  4. Without which values (min 3 – max 6) does life make no sense?
  5. How would you like to be remembered at the end of your days?
